The effect of the chemotherapy was not as harsh as I expected. Some thought I would not survive. But with God’s graces and mercy, I lived
another year. The prayers and the secret pill tandem was amazing.
I was surrounded by optimistic people who believed in hope.
Travelling was still a challenge but I am thankful for all the people who made it possible.
In fact, I had a chance to pick up my loving wife at the airport today, March 12, 2016. There was no substitute for her hugs and kisses.
The inspiring woman of my life was back.
God’s love sustains our relationship. Sabi nga sa On the Wings of Love (OTWOL), ‘kapag mahal mo, babalikan mo.’ Kaya ako sinundo ko sa airport.
From Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), we visited the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine in Baclaran to thank the Blessed Virgin Mother for her intercession to my healing.
As we pray the novena, I was reminded of her caring love to those who seek for help:
Mother of Perpetual Help, Woman of Eternal Hope, your wordless gaze tells us so much about you. Knowing eyes look upon us with tender love. The slight bend of your head reveals such maternal concern.
While your left hand supports the Child, your right hand is ready to receive us, too.
Just as He feels the beating of your heart, so you encourage us to lead a life of hope and holiness.
Just as His sandal will fall on your lap, through your intercession may God pick us up as we stumble and fall.
Never let us be parted from you and your son, Jesus.
Lady of love, you invite us to place our hand where His fingers touch yours — near a heart of endless hope —
so that we may be united often in prayer here on earth and joined forever with you in heaven. Amen.
To Jesus through Mary, I thanked God for the blessing of life and continuous healing.
Seek for her intercession. Without her saying ‘yes’ to God, we would have not Jesus in our midst.
As Charles de Foucauld said:
“In a time of great sorrow, not knowing where to take refuge, fearing to be misled by the evil one, I remembered the heart of the Mother of Perpetual Help, and I placed myself in her care, like her child, like her property. I begged her, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, to carry me, as she carried Jesus when he was a child, and to make me become, not what I would like to become, but what she herself would like for the greatest glory of her Son, according to His will, according to what she read in His heart.”
I am eternally grateful for having the Blessing Virgin Mother and my selfless wife in my life.
