kung hei fat choi!

More love & blessings to you, my dear reader on this special day of Chinese New Year! This was taken during our pre-nuptial photo session in the scorching heat of the desert of Arabia.

Kung Hei Fat Choi to our Chinese friends!

When I was a little boy growing in Manila, I would never forget the generosity of my Chinese neighbors during Chinese New Year. There were abundance of rice cake or tikoy, hopia and kiat kiat (small oranges). They believed that sharing during this special season will usher in more luck for the coming year.

When I worked with Shangri-La Plaza Mall, owned by a Malaysian Chinese and part of the famous Shangri-La chain of hotels, malls and luxury condominiums in Asia, even Chinese New Year mall decors were given importance during this auspicious occasion. We even hired Prof. Chao, a Feng Shui expert for free consultation to shoppers on how to bring luck and fortune, as part of our Chinese New Year special promo.

For our Chinese friends, the more you give means more fortune and luck.

But for me, aside from fortune and luck, giving is allowing God’s grace to be part of your life.

How do you give more? Let me share to you some insights from a cancer conqueror:

1. Give more with love. Small gestures of kindness will create a ripple of love. Do it from the heart. Do it out of love. When you help other people, your genuine act of love will manifest on your actions. You become more beautiful inside and out.

2. Give until it hurts. I did not understand what this means until I became a breadwinner. When my father had a stroke back in 2002, as the eldest, I have to find ways on how to support my family.  I made crucial decisions that sacrificed my personal life. Leaving the Philippines to work abroad was not an easy one. It hurts when you see your personal plans did not materialize. But, God has a bigger plan. Give, let go and let God!

3. Give without expectations. I know it is not easy. You always expect something in return. Big or small, expect less or none at all. Let God give it back to you. Probably not in your life time but in God’s perfect time.

Being a cancer patient, this blog is my simple way of giving back.

To you, my dear reader, I pray that you’ll have more abundance in life and may God shower you with blessings upon blessings!

Feel God’s embrace and love!

Be blessed always!

I want to share this prayer that inspires me every day to give:

Prayer for Generosity

Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous
Teach me to serve You as I should
To give and not to count the cost
To fight and not to heed the wounds
To toil and not to seek for rest
To labor and ask not for reward
Save that of knowing that I do Your most holy will
